Contrary to some claims that Miss Universe (MU) is losing its prestige and publicity, the scandal regarding the pageant's announcement restored the competition's 'hot topic' status among media platforms throughout the world. Beauty pageant supporters were left in a shock when MU host Steve Harry wrongfully announced Ariadna Gutierrez, Miss Colombia 2015 as Miss Universe 2015, rather than Miss Philippines' Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
